The following are excerpts from Philip Luke of JVW Luke’s will

 

Last will and testament of Philip Luke dated 1/14/1887

 

First - I bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah four thousand dollars plus residence he now resides in know as 34 Trinity Place, Albany

All furniture ornamental and useful

 

Second - bequeath to Philip Vanderzee son of Philip and Jane Vanderzee the sum of seven thousand dollars

 

Third - bequeath to Anna Vanderzee daughter of Philip and Jane Vanderzee the sum of two thousand dollars

 

Fourth - bequeath unto Katy otherwise know as Catherine daughter of Philip and Jane Vanderzee the sum of two thousand dollars

 

Fifth - direct executor to expend annually for the support of Mary Jane Vanderzee wife of Philip not to exceed $350 per annum for her natural life.

 

Sixth - bequeath to Frederic Clausen nephew by marriage on thousand dollars.

 

Seventh - bequeath to Henry Luke of Albany the sum of one thousand dollars

 

Eighth - bequeath five hundred dollars to Solomon Luke for him or for his benefit…..

 

Ninth - bequeath unto Philip Luke, Conrad Luke and Garret Luke children of Henry and Jane Luke the Sum of five hundred dollars each.

 

Tenth - bequeath unto Jacob Relyea two hundred dollars.

 

Eleventh - bequeath unto Mary Flanagan two hundred dollars

 

Bequeath unto Catherine Cullen fifty dollars

Thirteenth - Bequeath unto Margaret Devine one hundred dollars

 

Fourteenth - bequeath unto the home of Aged men where James B. Jermanis resides five hundred dollars.

 

Fifteenth - to the Stipend of the First Presbyterian Church of the city of Albany five hundred dollars to be expended by it for the use of the poor.

 

Sixteenth - bequeath unto Carrie Wemple wife of John two hundred dollars

 

Seventeenth - a suitable monument in the Albany Rural Cemetery, not to exceed one thousand dollars

 

Eighteenth -

 

Nineteenth - …………….. Remainder divided between Hannah and Frederic Clausen

 

Twentieth -  forfeit anyone who shall attempt to break this my last will and testament

 

Twenty first - None of my real estate shall be sold until after five years from my decease.
