Johannes Luke prepares his will in 1770.

 

Johannes Luke makes a new will in 1778.  In this will, all earthly belongings are left to his wife Geesje.

 

Johannes Luke dies on August 17, 1787.

 

Geesje Luke dies on May 30, 1790.  Geesje Luke dies intestate. 

 

The will of Johannes Luke is recorded on July 14, 1790

 

A clandestine meeting takes place on July 20, 1790 between John Van Allen and Philip Luke.  The meeting is witnessed by Volkert S. Veeder and Garrett Quackenbush of Albany.

 

Written on the back of the 1767 deed made between Stephen Van Rensselaer and Johannes Luke, is the following.

 

For the consideration of Four Hundred 

I do hereby certify that I do assign all my Right Estate

Claim whatever I have of the Within Lease 20th July 1790

Sealed and delivered

In the presence of

Volker S. Veeder                           Philip Luke

Garrett Quakenbush

 

A full and complete Inventory of the Goods, Chattels and Credits of Geesje Luke take place and is completed on June 14, 1792.  The total assessed value of the assessed Estate is 804 pounds and 6 shillings.  (does not include land and buildings)

 

The above Inventory is recorded with New York State by Johannes Van Allen, son-in-law of Geesje Luke on January, 14 1794.
